DC 2006 had 250 registered participants.

Makx Dekkers, Managing Director of Dublin Core Metadata Initiative, said that the decision to organize this event in Colima was made in regard to Mexican leadership, particularly from the University of Colima in Latin America. |

DC-2006 Preliminary Program is published, registration is now open.
The preliminary program <http://dc2006.ucol.mx/program.htm> for DC-2006, to be held in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico on 3-7 October 2006, is now available on the conference's web site <http://dc2006.ucol.mx/>. The conference features two keynote presentations, one on 3 October given by Abel Packer of Brazil's BIREME and one on 6 October given by Michael Crandall of the University of Washington's Information School, during three plenary sessions and four parallel paper sessions, 21 long and 7 short papers will be presented. In addition, seven papers will be read during a special session on Portuguese and Spanish Latin American projects.
Furthermore, the workshops will include 13 working group sessions. On each conference day there will be a series of tutorials that will introduce basic as well as more advanced concepts related to the implementation of Dublin Core in the practice of metadata. DC-2006 Program Chairs
and Coordinators are appointed
In preparation for DC-2006, to be held
on 3-6 October 2006 in Manzanillo (Colima) in Mexico,
Javier Solorio Lagunas of the University of Colima
and Thomas Baker of DCMI have been appointed Program
Chairs, while Lourdes Feria Basurto of the University
of Colima and Makx Dekkers of DCMI have been named coordinators of the event. The Call for Papers
is scheduled for publication in January 2006.
