This year, the International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications (DC-2006, http://dc2006.ucol.mx) will be held in Manzanillo, in the state of Colima, Mexico, from 3 through 6 October 2006, and will be organized by the University of Colima in collaboration with the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI, http://dublincore.org/).
Dublin Core is the leading standard for metadata for description and discovery of digital information (International Standard ISO 15836). Metadata is a fundamental element of the Web and more advanced developments such as the Semantic Web. Many companies and governments (e.g. in Canada, Denmark, The Netherlands, New Zealand and the UK to name a few) have standardized on Dublin Core as their preferred standard for the description of their digital content.
DC-2006 will attract a specialist audience from all over the world and from various academic and professional backgrounds, including e-government, e-learning, libraries, digital archives and many more. Both the public and private sector will be represented.
